They plan on using their success in 2009 as a catapult into the 2010 season. Steve Beitler, Promoter of Skagit Speedway, was honored with the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Promoter of the Year and was a regional winner for the Auto Racing Promotor of the Year at the recent RPM Promoters Workshop in Daytona Beach, FL. On top of that, the 38th Annaul Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup was named National Speed Sport News Best Annual Short Track Event for 2009. The 2010 season will start with a new surface for the 0.3-mile dirt track, the 39th Annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup which will be the finale of the recently announced 2010 Western Speedweek for the 410 sprint cars. With all of this exciting news, Skagit has also renewed as an ASA Member Track for 2010, "Skagit Speedway is please to partner with ASA," Beitler said. "I like the fact that ASA understands the needs of the race tracks and works in the best interest of the owners and promoters. ASA brings a complete package with them, including a multimedia promotional partnership, a fantastic insurance program and a team that understands short track racing." The insurance program that Beitler mentions is one that his competitors truly appreciate, "Our drivers are happy with the affordable insurance program. It gives them peace of mind that they are covered not just at the track but from home to and from the track," Beitler commented. "They see a marketing benefit with the added exposure ASA gives it's tracks and members." Along with that, Beitler appreciates that he can call upon the ASA staff for any help or advice, "The staff at ASA has been involved with short track racing for over 35 years, they have plenty of experience in all aspects of dirt track racing. Their knowledge is most helpful for the new and veteran promoters. ASA has an affordable program that maximizes the benefits to it's member tracks." When asked about any more big events coming up this season at Skagit, Beitler says to stay tuned as he will be making a major announcement soon. "Steve and his staff at Skagit have been great to work with," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "They have one of the finest dirt tracks in the country and it is starting to get national attention after the awards it received recently. We are proud of their accomplishments and also proud to have them as part of the ASA family." Skagit Speedway, located just east of the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Alger, Wash., is unquestionably one of the finest dirt short tracks in the country. Built in 1954, and in continual operation since, the 0.3-mile dirt track is not resting on its laurels. Skagit Speedway owner Steve Beitler is currently widening his track to allow for even racier events.
