MIKE WINS SECOND PRO STOCK TRUCK NATIONAL EVENT IN INDY

For drag racers, winning the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis is as big as it
gets. The sport's longest-running and most prestigious event dates back to
the infancy of the sport in the mid 1950s and for many years it served as
the only national event in the country, placing it's importance right
alongside a modern era championship.
Mike Coughlin grew up dreaming of drag racing glory and as a Division 3
racer he had numerous opportunities to race on the hallowed drag strip in
Indy. But the national event only rolls around once a year and Coughlin knew
he needed to be prepared to go for the gold when his chance arrives.
For Coughlin, 1999 was that magical moment, as he drove his rock-steady
JEGS.com Chevrolet pick-up truck to the title of "the Big Go" in the Pro
Stock Truck category. It was Coughlin's second national event victory of the
year and he certainly had to earn the trophy, driving past class leaders like
Brad Jeter, Brian "Lump" Self, Craig Eaton, and Scott Perin to reach the
winner's circle.
"There simply is no better feeling in the world," he said.
