PHOENIX--The Honorable Gregory B. Jaczko, Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, will keynote the 13th annual Energy & Environment Conference (EUEC) to be held February 1 to 3, 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Convention Center. Chairman Jaczko will join a record number of over 650 senior level speakers at this year’s EUEC who will be discussing policy and solutions for USA’s energy independence and the reduction of carbon emissions.
“This year’s conference brings together senior management professionals at the onset of what will be an active year for energy and environmental policy particularly with the proposed new legislation on climate change and energy independence in the United States”
Dr. Gregory B. Jaczko was designated Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission by President Barack Obama on May 13, 2009, after serving as Commissioner since January 2005. As Chairman, he has focused on the NRC being a decisive safety regulator with the confidence of the public. “The drive for energy independence and widespread concern about climate change have cast a spotlight on the nuclear industry both in the United States and around the world,” said Chairman Jaczko. “At this time of change and re-evaluation, the NRC is intensely focused on its mission of licensing and regulating civilian use of nuclear materials, ensuring public health and safety, promoting the common defense and security, and protecting the environment.”
This will be the first energy & environment conference in the US following the international COP15 meeting in Copenhagen, where over 650 leading experts gather for three days to speak about solutions and impacts in concurrent sessions on the Environment, Sustainability, Electric Utilities, Global Warming, Renewable Energy, Carbon Management & Climate Policy. Over 1500 delegates have pre-registered for the conference with an expected attendance of 3,000 for this year’s event.
“This year’s conference brings together senior management professionals at the onset of what will be an active year for energy and environmental policy particularly with the proposed new legislation on climate change and energy independence in the United States,” said Dr. Prabhu Dayal, EUEC Chairman. “To show our support for reducing the seventy percent consumption of foreign oil by the transportation sector, this year’s exhibit hall will showcase and promote hybrid and alternate fuel vehicles.”
