NEW YORK, January 11 -- The winners of the prestigious 2010 North American Car and Truck of the Year award were announced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at 8:30 a.m.
The NACOTY/NATOTY awards recognize vehicles for things like innovation, fuel economy, quality, safety, design and value for the dollar. To be eligible for the award, cars and trucks must be "all new" or "substantially" redesigned from previous models. This year's finalists for the 2010 North American Car of the Year are the Buick LaCrosse, Ford Fusion Hybrid and Volkswagen Golf/GTI. Finalists for Truck of the Year are the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Transit Connect and Subaru Outback.
The winners of the prestigious 2010 North American Car and Truck of the Year award are the Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Ford Transit.
The North American Car and Truck of the Year awards are unique because they're not given out by a single publication, radio, TV station or the auto show itself. The NACOTY/NATOTY group is made up of 50 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada.
