POLLARD NITROSPORTS
BRINGING CANADIAN DRAG BIKE RACING INTO THE MAINSTREAM

Team Gathers Top
Canadian Motorcycle Award and Cracks the Line-up for the London Sports
Celebrity Dinner

(January
8, 2009)Dorchester, ON – With
a banner year behind them, one that saw them become the first Canadian
drag
bike team to record a five second elapsed time, the recognition for
brothers
Greg and Geoff Pollard continues to expand with the recent announcement
that together
they will receive a Motorcycle Award of Excellence while attending the
North
American International Motorcycle Supershow, while Geoff will be a
featured
guest at the Rogers London Sports Celebrity Dinner.

The
Motorcycle Awards of Excellence (MAX Awards) are known as Canada's
motorcycle
'Oscars' and will be presented in over 50 categories including Canadian
Racing
Champions, Rider Achievement and Media and Sponsorship, for all that
showed
excellence during 2009.

By receiving
the award for International Competition the Pollard’s are recognized as
one of
the top race teams in Canada.
This marks the third time that the Pollard’s have received a MAX Award
with their
previous wins coming in 2000 and 2005, once again for their outstanding
achievements in international competition.

The award
will be presented during the North American Motorcycle Supershow
January 15-17,
2010 in Toronto, Ontario where the Pollard’s Top Fuel Motorcycle will
be on
display for the weekend as a featured part of the event. For more
information
about the event visit www.supershowevents.com.

On top of
being presented with a MAX Award, Geoff Pollard will also be an
honoured head
table guest at the Rogers London Sports Celebrity Dinner January 18,
2010 at
the London Convention Centre in London, Ontario. There he will join noted athletes from
several genres of sport including former NHLer’s Craig Simpson and
Dennis Hull
as well as three-time Canadian Olympic Rowing Champion Marnie McBean
and rising
hockey star Nazem Kadri of the London Knights OHL Hockey Club.

With their string
of impressive performances in 2009, that included two AMA national
event wins
and recording the first five second elapsed time by a Canadian drag
bike team, the
Pollard brothers have brought a degree of mainstream notoriety to the
Canadian
drag bike arena as is evidenced by their invitation to participate in
an event
such as the Rogers London Sports Celebrity Dinner. “Being asked to
attend the
London Sports Celebrity Dinner is a great honour and it really puts an
exclamation point on how much awareness we raised amongst the general
public
with our performances on the track in 2009.” said Geoff Pollard.

For 53
years, a committee of volunteers from the Rotary Club of London and
London
Sports Media has organized the Rogers Sports Celebrity Dinner and
Auction with
the sole purpose of raising funds for Thames Valley Children's Centre.

About Pollard NitroSports
On the track since
the mid 80’s
Geoff Pollard has piloted several types of racing motorcycle to event
championships and national elapsed time and speed records. In 1993
Pollard
Racing Canada was formed with the introduction of the teams Alcohol
Funny Bike.
In 1999 Geoff scored a Pro Star national event victory and became the
first
Canadian to eclipse 200 miles per hour on a motorcycle. After a close
battle
for the national point’s championship in 2000 the
Pollard’s passion to go faster led them to the Top Fuel
Motorcycle
division. The team excelled out of the gate in 2005 setting the
Canadian
national record for the class and winning another Pro Star national
event
making Geoff the first rider in Pro Star history to win an event in
Funny Bike
and Top Fuel competition.
The Pollard
NitroSports team
debuted a new Top Fuel Motorcycle in 2008 and proceeded to reset both
ends of
the Canadian record with a 6.08 elapsed time, 231 miles per hour blast
in
November of that same year. 2009 offered more record-breaking
performances for
the team as they became only the 5th members of the MTC
Engineering
5-second club with a 5.96 second elapsed time. The team also captured
two AMA
Dragbike national event wins in 2009 and recorded the quickest drag
bike run in
history on Canadian soil. They finished the 2009 campaign with a
runner-up
finish at the season ending AMA XXX Racing Fuels National Finals, en
route
running a stunning 5.93 elapsed time at 241 miles per hour, giving them
the
distinction of being the fastest, non-U.S. based drag bike in the world.
