Nicholas Ashooh Joins Alcoa as Vice President of Corporate Affairs

NEW YORK--Alcoa announced today that Nicholas Ashooh, Senior Vice President of Communications at American International Group will join Alcoa on January 18, 2010 as Vice President, Corporate Affairs. He will be a member of the Alcoa Executive Council and have oversight for global communications, government affairs, community relations and the Alcoa Foundation. Mr. Ashooh succeeds John D. Bergen, who has been appointed Vice President, Human Resources.

Prior to AIG, Mr. Ashooh led communications at American Electric Power, Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and Public Service of New Hampshire. His extensive experience in the regional power industry will be important to helping Alcoa address the wide range of energy and environmental issues and opportunities that face the aluminum industry.

Mr. Ashooh is past chairman of The Seminar, one of the most prestigious organizations for senior communications professionals. He is also a member and former director of the Arthur Page Society; and a member of the Civilian Public Affairs Advisory Committee of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

A graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, Mr. Ashooh earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (Cum Laude).
