The "Young Lion" will be teaming up Tiff Daniels as their cars will honor the 1996 South African Bafana Bafana African Cup of Nations soccer Champions as well as South Africa hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer Championships. Davis, a native from Silver Spring, MD, is one of American racing's rising stars. At the age of 19, he is NASCAR's youngest owner/driver as he competes in the Camping World Truck Series and the Nationwide Series. He has driven for famed car owners Joe Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing and Jack Roush of Roush Fenway Racing and the future is bright. The recent US economic downturn forced the young driver into an ownership role as he continues to pursue his NASCAR dream. "My goal has always been to be a team owner," Davis said. "Diversity comes through ownership. Success will come through ownership. My dream is ownership." This young lion is now getting prepared for the Free State 500 powered by ASA Racing at Phakisa and is hungry for victory along with making some new friends. He will be bringing his best car to the event. In fact, it's the same NASCAR Nationwide car that Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin drove to 2008 wins at Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE. The car was purchased from Joe Gibbs Racing and will now be running under the Marc Davis Motorsports, LLC, banner. The young lion is also bringing Tiff Daniels to drive his second team entry. Davis is paying tribute to Bafana Bafana (which means Boys Boys) and South Africa's hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Davis' two entries are listed as the Spirit of '96 recognizing the successes of the 1996 AFCON winners Bafana Bafana. Both of the car graphics will feature Bafana and South Africa colors. "I know the pride South Africans have for Bafana and hope to share the love and spirit for Bafana," Davis commented. Daniels will be piloting the #19 Toyota Camry while Davis will be in the #96 Lumina SS. Davis brings the support of his US sponsors. He has competed in four NASCAR Nationwide Series events this season and recently finished 18th in the recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, VA and 32nd in the Camping World Truck Series event at Miami-Homestead Speedway where he competed in both events driving for his own team, Marc Davis Motorsports. Earlier this year, he competed in the Toyota All-Star Showdown in Irwindale, CA where he finished eighth driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. At the age of 13, Davis won duel National Championships in the Young Lion Division of legend cars for road course and dirt circuits. In 2008, he competed in the NASCAR Camping World East Series where he finished fifth in points with a record of four top-five and seven top-ten finishes.
