The Post-War Frazer Nash

AUTO CENTRAL – December 28, 2009: Palawan Press is proud to present this detailed and authoritative history of the post-war Frazer Nash, a car of outstanding pedigree and with an exceptionally successful competition record. This beautifully designed and illustrated book traces the evolution of the Bristol-powered Frazer Nash from the first prototype based on a BMW 328 that had competed in the 1940 Mille Miglia road race to the last cars that appeared at the London Motor Show in 1957-58. Early chapters recount the founding of the company, the involvement of the German BMW company with AFN, the makers of Frazer Nash cars, and the evolution of the BMW-derived Bristol engine that powered them.

The main themes of the book are detailed accounts of the evolution of these cars, model changes and developments, a deeply informative racing history and, most important of all, a fascinating and painstakingly researched Register. This gives the histories of each individual post-war Frazer Nash, including the various engines fitted (and a few Frazer Nash cars have had engines other than Bristol), changes in ownership and details of alterations and modifications made to individual cars over the years.

There are 350 outstanding illustrations, including rare colour from the 1950s, showing these superb cars in competition round the world, at motor shows and in the ownership of the famous and the infamous. In addition there are reproductions of catalogues, road tests and press descriptions. The book is published in two limited editions. As well as owning several outstanding examples of the marque, he has been a devoted Frazer Nash enthusiast since boyhood. Anthony Pritchard is a distinguished motoring writer and historian whose last book for Palawan was an authoritative history of the Gullwing Mercedes-Benz.
