A.M. Best: USAA’s Financial Strength A ‘Sustainable Competitive Advantage’
SAN ANTONIO--A.M. Best has affirmed its highest possible financial strength ratings of A++ (Superior) and issuer credit ratings of “aaa” for the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) and its insurance subsidiaries.
“We’re pleased that A.M. Best continues to recognize USAA for our strength and stability”
These ratings round out recent affirmations of USAA’s financial strength from two other national rating agencies: Standard & Poor’s assigned financial strength ratings of AAA for USAA’s Property & Casualty and Life Insurance Companies, while Moody’s Investors Service assigned financial strength ratings of Aaa and Aa1 for the two groups, respectively.
This trio of ratings makes USAA one of a small, elite group of companies to retain the highest marks from these well-known rating agencies.
“The affirmations reflect USAA’s superior capitalization and strong operating results through focused business and financial strategies,” A.M. Best said in a press release. “USAA’s low cost structure, high customer retention, effective use of technology and exceptional customer service capabilities have enabled it to build a sustainable competitive advantage in the personal lines sector.”
“We’re pleased that A.M. Best continues to recognize USAA for our strength and stability,” said USAA’s Chief Financial Officer Kristi Matus. “We’re proud of that performance, as it supports our ongoing commitment to facilitate the financial security of our members, many of whom are serving our country.”
“USAA operates with a consistently conservative approach that has resulted in a sound balance sheet and excellent financials, despite the recession,” Matus added. “And we continue to see a steady growth in membership. USAA is well-positioned to not only weather this economic downturn, but to come out even stronger.”
