Club Racing Contingency Programs for 2010 Now Posted

TOPEKA, Dec. 22, 2009: With a new season of racing just around the corner, SCCA Club Racers can now begin to register for contingency programs.

Three auto manufacturers, Volkswagen of America, Mazda North American Operations and Toyota/TRD have committed to contingency programs in 2010. Volkswagen will make payments to top-three finishers in selected National classes, paying as much as $1500 for a win. Additionally, Volkswagen is offering $150 for a Regional race win in nine classes. Mazda will also make payouts to eligible drivers who finish in the top three at a National Club race. Those payments more than double for a podium finish at the June Sprints. Bonus money from Mazda and Volkswagen is available for a Divisional Championship as well. Toyota will reward either $800 or $400 for a National race win depending on which class the victory came in.

Four tire makers are in the 2010 contingency mix, with Toyo, BFGoodrich, Goodyear and Hoosier all posting programs. As the spec tire for the Spec Miata class, Toyo will pay prize money to the top eight finishers at every National race, plus award each eligible Divisional Champion with $1,500. Posting in five classes, BFG will award race winners with two free tires and second-place finishers with one free tire. Goodyear will also award two free tires to race winners in select classes. Free tires are also to be won by eligible Hoosier drivers, who will earn two free tires for a win and one free tire for finishing second.

A new contingency sponsor, TreadZone.com, is also ready to help drivers get their hands on some tires and wheels. Posting in all National and Regional classes, TreadZone has developed a point system by which drivers can accumulate points to use toward purchases on tires and wheels at TreadZone.com. Eligible drivers can even earn bonus points by making purchases at TreadZone.com or by submitting national racing publications in which their car appears. The program also offers the potential to win free Toyo, BFG and Hankook Tires, plus Team Dynamics wheels, at the end of the season. AST Suspension is another new name to the contingency roster. Drivers in select classes do not necessarily need to finish on the podium to collect prizes with this new program. AST is offering a $500 product certificate for a race win and a $250 product certificate for finishing fifth.

The iRacing.com program for National and Regional Club Racing has gone unchanged. The program continues to offer registered drivers a $15 iRacing.com credit for finishing in the top three, or a free one-month subscription to iRacing.com for those who are not already members.

With the addition of Touring 3 to their program, Summit Racing Equipment will post in eight National classes in 2010. The performance parts retailer is offering $125 for a race win, $75 for a runner-up finish and $50 for a third-place finish to eligible drivers.

Drivers should read the program requirements carefully and be sure to have the necessary paperwork turned in before their first event.
