Visteon's Henry S. Martin Jr. Named to Board of Directors of National Minority Supplier Development Council

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., Dec. 22, 2009 -- Henry S. Martin Jr., who leads supplier diversity development efforts for global automotive supplier Visteon Corporation, has been named to the board of directors of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). Martin was elected to a one-year term at the council's recent national conference in New Orleans.

Martin is responsible for managing the growth and development of a diverse Visteon supply base, including minority- and women-owned enterprises. His more than 30 years of auto industry experience include roles in purchasing, manufacturing, and material planning and logistics. For the past two years, he has served on the board of the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council.

The NMSDC provides a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses. It was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes. The NMSDC network includes a national office in New York and 38 regional councils across the U.S. There are 3,500 corporate members throughout the network, including most of America's largest publicly-owned, privately-owned and foreign-owned companies, as well as universities, hospitals and other buying institutions. The regional councils certify and match more than 15,000 minority-owned businesses with member corporations that want to purchase their goods and services.
