NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Mike Bliss, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner Tommy Baldwin, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver JC Stout, and ARCA Racing Series driver Justin Lloyd joined over 50 other drivers and personalities from the NASCAR, ARCA, NHRA, IndyCar, and Legends communities to participate in the annual fundraiser which benefits SCAN Child & Parenting Centers of Iredell County. Bliss, Baldwin, Stout, and Lloyd signed autographs and took photographs with the thousands of racing fans that lined up at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Downtown Mooresville last Tuesday, December 8th. Funds were raised through the sale of general admission and premium wristbands to the event, as well as a silent auction of racing memorabilia, and independent contributions. The donation of a new, unwrapped toy was also required for admission. The annual Stocks-For-Tots charity event was created as a way to bring together the stock car racing community and its fans while raising awareness for child abuse in North Carolina. Since its inception in 1989, Stocks-For-Tots has raised more than $850,000 and distributed nearly 50,000 Christmas toys to area children in need. Net proceeds and toys collected from the family-oriented holiday event benefitted the non-profit SCAN Child & Parenting Centers of Iredell County. "I had a great time at this year's Stocks-For-Tots event," said NSCS team owner Tommy Baldwin. "It was a really fun experience and a great opportunity for our team's new driver, Mike Bliss, and myself to mingle with so many racing fans and meet the people who make this sport so special." Drivers JC Stout and Justin Lloyd also enjoyed their appearances at Stocks-For-Tots. "I am so glad that I got to participate in such a worthwhile event," said Stout. "There was a great turnout this year, and it always makes me happy to contribute in some small way in making someone's holiday brighter." Lloyd added, "Participating in Stocks-For-Tots the past two years and seeing what an impact it makes for the race fans who attend and the members of the community it benefits, I definitely plan to make it a tradition to continue to attend in the future." Stocks-For-Tots will continue their tradition of providing for children in the community with the 22nd annual Stocks-For-Tots benefit scheduled for early December of 2010.
