Work Truck Show 2010 Offers Green Truck Solutions for the Real World
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 15, 2009 -- The National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) and CALSTART have joined forces to bring vocational fleet managers practical solutions for their "green" truck needs through an expanded Green Truck Summit, Green Truck Ride-and-Drive and dedicated exhibit space at The Work Truck Show® 2010 in St. Louis, MO.
Recognizing that environmental considerations are just part of the decision-making process for fleet managers when specifying new vocational trucks and equipment, the Green Truck Summit is held in conjunction with The Work Truck Show, North America's largest work truck event. The Summit runs from 8:30am to 5:00pm (followed by a networking reception) on Tuesday, March 9, and from 8am to 12pm on Wednesday, March 10. The Work Truck Show and 46th Annual NTEA Convention take place March 9-12, 2010, at America's Center in St. Louis.
The Green Truck Summit features 25 educational sessions that provide information and ideas businesses can use in their truck fleets today, as well as a look forward to the technology of tomorrow. These sessions are presented by industry leaders, government officials, and manufacturers, as well as fleet managers who share their real-world experiences with "going green."
"Implementing a successful green fleet program involves much more than simply writing purchase orders for new hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles," says Doyle Sumrall, NTEA senior director of business development. "At the Green Truck Summit, fleet managers learn how to match the appropriate clean technologies to their fleets' drive cycles, control fuel consumption, reduce vehicle emissions, obtain state and federal assistance to pay for green technology, and compare the various alternative fuel sources currently available."
The Green Truck Summit covers all existing environmentally friendly power sources for work trucks, including hydraulic hybrid (HHV), hybrid electric (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV), natural gas hybrid (NG-hybrid), renewable natural gas, hydrogen fuel cell, propane, biodiesel and electric drive. But the event doesn't stop there. At The Work Truck Show and Green Truck Summit, "green" goes beyond alternative fuels to encompass the wide range of options available to improve work truck fuel utilization, including lightweight bodies, auxiliary power units and idle-reduction technology. This technology and equipment is showcased in exhibitor booths within the 500,000-square-foot display area of the Work Truck Show. New this year is a CALSTART Clean Technology and Fuels Pavilion to highlight advanced clean technologies and fuels.
The Green Truck Ride-and-Drive gives Work Truck Show attendees the opportunity to drive or ride in cutting-edge hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles on city streets. The Ride-and-Drive is held during Show hours on Wednesday, March 10, and Thursday, March 11. It is sponsored by Freightliner Trucks.
The Work Truck Show is produced annually by the NTEA. The Green Truck Summit is jointly produced and managed by the NTEA and CALSTART, and the presenting sponsor is International Truck. CALSTART's well-known annual Clean Heavy Duty Vehicle Conference is now incorporated into the Summit curriculum.
