Dearborn MI Dec 15, 2009; Reuters reported that Ford Motor Corp will restore some employee perks such as merit pay increases, tuition reimbursements and 401(k) contributions from next year for its U.S. salaried staff, the Detroit Free Press reported, citing an e-mail sent to employees.

"Our One Ford transformation is not complete, but our plan is working," Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas, was quoted as saying in the e-mail. Ford is not reinstating bonuses yet, the paper said.

Ford previously eliminated performance bonuses, merit pay increases for salaried workers in North America and has made other cuts.

Last month, the automaker posted a surprise quarterly profit and said it was optimistic about 2010.

Ford was not immediately available for comment.
