Hal Martin to Test at Daytona

Daytona, FL: It's been a break-through year for Hal "the Ragin' Cajun" Martin, the 23 year old driver from New Orleans, Louisiana, making both his ARCA and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debuts. In preparation for 2010, Martin will be testing during the open ARCA series test at Daytona International Speedway on December 19th. The test will qualify "the Ragin' Cajun" to run superspeedways like Daytona and Talladega in the 2010 ARCA season.

Martin had a strong entry into the ARCA series this year, with just three starts. Martin threw down an eleventh place finish in his first ARCA series race at Mansfield, then went on to turn heads at Chicagoland Speedway in August where he started thirty-third and blazed through the field to finish third. Martin closed out his ARCA season with a top ten finish at Kansas, which attracted the attention of Venturini Motorsports.

Venturini Motorsports is one of the most prestigious driver development programs in the country, and has been a major presence in the ARCA series for more than 25 years. Having fostered the careers of drivers like Joey Logano, Justin Allgaier, and Scott Lagasse, Jr., Martin is in good company. Like Logano, who finished second at Daytona last year with Venturni Motorsports, Martin will be benefitting from the team's experience and topnotch equipment.

"We are very excited to have Hal as part of our team," said Venturini. "He has shown great potential in his brief but successful ARCA career. We know that this test will give Hal the added experience he will need, so that when he comes back to race he will be primed for success."

"I am really excited to be testing this year, and it couldn't have happened at a better time," Martin said. He went on to explain that he would be leaving testing to fly back home to pick up his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Orleans the next day. While we might think that's cutting it a bit close - Martin is used to racing.
