DENVER, Dec. 9, 2009 -- Examiner.com, the inside source for everything local, announces its nominees for 2010 Car of the Year. While American automakers dominate Examiner.com's 2010 list of top autos, the list also recognizes the successful reinvention of an Asian manufacturer. Taking advantage of its 300-plus Transportation Examiners (contributors to the site), situated throughout the U.S. and Canada, Examiner.com reviewed hundreds of 2010 vehicles to create an unbiased recognition platform unlike any other in the automotive industry.

In November, Examiners, ranging from seasoned automotive insiders, to passionate and educated consumers, nominated their top five vehicles worthy of consideration for Examiner.com's 2010 Car of the Year.

  The 2010 Nominees:

  -- Chevy Camaro
  -- Ford Fusion Hybrid
  -- Hyundai Genesis Coupe
  -- Buick LaCrosse
  -- Ford Taurus SHO

"This list reflects input from a wide swath of automotive Examiners," explains Grant Davis Transportation Channel Manager for Examiner.com. "The nominating Examiners include veteran automotive journalists, tuner-car fans, budget-minded college-students, working mothers, industry professionals, mechanics, and green transportation experts. Spread around the continent, these Examiners based their votes on which vehicles impressed them as ideal picks for their city, local roads, weather--their lifestyle."

With the nominees in place, the Examiners will now spend December reviewing each vehicle's strengths and will then submit their final vote for Car of the Year. The winner will be announced in advance of the 2010 North American International Auto Show in mid-January, 2010.
