USA Bobsled Success and Bo-Dyn Technology Becoming Synonymous

CESANA, Dec. 7, 2009: World Cup bobsled racing resumed over the weekend with Team USA’s Lake Placid success carrying over to the 2006 Olympic track near Torino, Italy.

Top U.S. pilot Steve Holcomb, of Park City, Utah, has begun stringing together podium performances in Bo-Dyn bobsleds. After a silver and gold two weeks ago on home ice, Holcomb, the 2009 World Champion in four man, crossed the Atlantic and drove his two and four man crews to bronze and gold medals, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday.

Not to be outdone, Shauna Rohbock, Orem, Utah, returned to the scene of her 2006 Olympic silver medal and stepped one notch higher when she too turned back the best women on the circuit Saturday en route to a gold medal. American women are also riding Bo-Dyn technology to the medal stand.

John Napier, of Schenectady, N.Y., who learned to bobsled from his father on the Lake Placid courses and is firmly in the mix for a 2010 Olympic berth, won gold and silver at home last month and then placed fifth and ninth in the Italian competitions.

Erin Pac, from Farmington, Conn., placed fifth and Bree Schaaf, of Bremerton, Wash., slid into sixth as the U.S. women are bidding to qualify three sleds into the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The Schaaf story is remarkable in that she competed as a skeleton racer until 2007 when she turned her attention to the bigger craft.

The Bo-Dyn story has grown in recent years, courtesy of the Lucas Oil Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge presented by Whelen Engineering. This yearly event in Lake Placid, N.Y., creates awareness and needed funding for the continuing evolution of the made-in-America Bo-Dyn sleds, now recognized among the world’s fastest.

The 2010 edition of the Challenge, in its fifth year, will be held on Mount Van Hoevenberg Jan. 8-10. It will feature stars of NASCAR and NHRA in modified bobsleds negotiating the ¾ mile Lake Placid course.

The Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project Inc. accepts and appreciates public support for its Made-in-America efforts. Donations can be made at www.bodinebobsled.com.

What Daytona is to auto racing, Lake Placid is to bobsledding!
