The program was developed and introduced in 2005 as a way of giving deserving young drivers the opportunity to bring their racing fitness to optimal levels. Those in consideration for the scholarship are between 12 and 20 years of age and have completed at least one year of racing competition. They must also show proof of a confirmed racing schedule for the 2010 season.
