TEAMSTERS, CONSUMER ADVOCATES, TO RELEASE REPORT ‘DAMAGED WHEN DELIVERED?’

Report Examines Threats to Consumer Confidence, Safety from Damage During Transport of GM, Chrysler Vehicles When Delivered by Cut-Rate Carhaul Companies

(WASHINGTON) – Representatives from the Teamsters Union, consumer advocates from Consumer for Auto Reliability and Safety (CARS) and Consumer Action and members of Congress will hold a press teleconference on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. to announce the findings of the report “Damaged When Delivered?�?? The report is an inside look at the risks to public safety and consumer confidence when new GM and Chrysler vehicles are delivered by cut-rate and inexperienced carhaul companies. 

Auto giants Chrysler and GM are changing their practices so that new cars will be delivered by inexperienced drivers using inappropriate equipment and methods that endanger the vehicles they are delivering to unsuspecting drivers.
