On Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. (EDT) Formula Smiles, a Foundation created by NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya and his wife Connie, will partner with four Colombian foundations for BeLive 2009. For the third consecutive year, this annual fundraising event hosted by the most important Colombian non©\profit organizations based in the United States, will be joining forces and resources to raise awareness about Colombia¡¯s social needs. Since its creation in 2007, BeLive has raised over $1.5 million thanks to donations made by more than 1,000 guests and 70 corporative donors.www.belivecolombia.org
Concert by Jorge Celedon:
One of the most beloved recording artist in Colombia Latin Grammy Award winner Jorge Celedon promises to do a spectacular performance. Jorgito and accordionist Jimmy Sambrano, who performed at the White House in 2007, will perform their vallenato sounds to the sell©\out crowd. www.jorgeceledon.net
Fashion Show by
Luxury brand OndadeMar will show its spring©\summer 2010 GYPSY collection. OndadeMar is an internationally known brand that has featured in prestigious magazines like Vogue, Bazaar, In©\style, Cosmopolitan, Elle and a cover of Sport Illustrated, among others. In 2008, OndadeMar was featured in Sex and the City the movie. www.ondademar.com
The runway presentation will feature ALDO shoes, designed by fashion stylist Lauren Santo Domingo specifically for this event. Models will wear jewelry and accessories by the New York based designer Alexis Bittar who is known for his modernist Lucite jewelry and has been featured in US Vogue, French Vogue and Vogue Italia.
BeLive Awards:
For the first time our foundations will Grant the BeLive Philanthropy Awards. These are recognitions for a group of people who generously work to improve the lives of thousands of disadvantaged people in Colombia.
This year the honorees are Shakira , (Fundaci¨®n Pies Descalzos), Mar¨ªa Eugenia Garc¨¦s (Fundaci¨®n Alvaralice), Daddy Yankee (Fundaci¨®n Coraz¨®n Guerrero), and Fanny Iguar¨¢n Inciarte (Comunidad Wayuu).
Colombian artist Federico Uribe donated four magnificent pieces made with books representing the BeLive flower to be this year¡¯s BeLive Award. Important galleries in Miami, New York, London, Paris and Florence represent this well©\known contemporary artist. Wayuu Project
BeLive 2009 and Chevron are proud to present the Wayuu Project, led by Lauren Santo Domingo, Contributing Editor for Vogue Magazine. This project is made possible thanks to the participation of well©\known designers such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Silvia Tcherassi, and Angel S¨¢nchez among others. A group of designers will imprint their contemporary vision to a susu mochila (handbag), weaved by the indigenous women of the Wayuu Tribe in La Guajira, Colombia. These mochilas will be auctioned the night of the event.
