SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Nov. 12 -- Zero Motorcycles today announced that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger took a special interest in its all-new street legal Zero S electric motorcycle. While touring the Alt Car Expo, the Governor spent time with the California based motorcycle company and was introduced to the Zero S. The Zero S offers a transportation alternative that is practical, fun and environmentally friendly. Based in California, Zero Motorcycles is an innovative company that is positioned to help the state by both generating new jobs and by reducing carbon emissions.

"We are honored that Governor Schwarzenegger took the time to learn about the innovative engineering and environmentally-friendly performance of our motorcycles," said John Lloyd, VP of Worldwide Sales for Zero Motorcycles. "Zero Motorcycles offers solutions for two of the state's major initiatives. We are boosting the economy and reducing emissions."

Developed to aggressively take on urban environments and encourage the occasional detour, the Zero S integrates revolutionary technology with innovative motorcycle design. The Zero S is designed for optimal performance during city riding, in sharp turns and while navigating obstacles. In addition to its performance and maneuverability, the Zero S uses a completely non-toxic lithium ion array and the majority of the motorcycle is fully recyclable. The landfill approved power pack recharges in less than four hours while plugged into a standard 110V or 220V outlet. Eco-friendly with zero emissions, the Zero S is also economy-friendly with an operating cost of less than one cent per mile or kilometer.

Zero Motorcycles first entered the motorcycle industry in 2006 with the all-electric Drift. In 2008 they launched the Zero X which exceeded all expectations by selling out before the year end. Its success blazed the path for the long awaited launch of the Zero S supermoto motorcycle in April. Earlier this summer, Zero Motorcycles announced another addition to its electric motorcycle product lineup with the Zero MX which is made specifically for track riding and motocross. In August, Zero Motorcycles revealed the highly anticipated and most versatile electric motorcycle yet, the Zero DS.
