'Rucksacks to Book bags' School Supply Drive During Race Week at Phoenix International Raceway

CLEARWATER, Fla., Nov. 10, 2009 -- As NASCAR racing returns to Phoenix International Raceway this week, race fans attending the Lucas Oil 150, Able Body Labor 200 or the Checkers O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 are encouraged to bring unopened school supplies to the Able Body Labor display located behind the AJ Foyt Grandstand as part of the "Rucksacks to Book bags" program.

"Rucksacks to Book bags" is an initiative that provides school supplies to members of the US Armed Forces in Afghanistan to distribute these desperately needed supplies to Afghan school children and orphans as part of their on-going peace-building efforts. The program has helped foster trust between US troops and Afghan tribal elders that have led to extraordinary results, even extended efforts to protect our troops.

Items being collected include new: three ring binder notebooks, loose leaf notebook paper, boxes of pencils, colored pencils, rulers, erasers, glue sticks and school scissors.

Anyone donating school supplies will be entered into a drawing to receive an autographed item from the winner of the Able Body Labor 200. The winners will be contacted after the event and the item shipped to them.
