NOTES
Martin Truex Jr. and No. 1 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Team
Texas History: Truex will be making his ninth NSCS start at the
one-half mile quad-oval. Truex has an average starting position of 17.5
and an average finish of 14.5 at Texas Motor Speedway. Truex has four
Top-10 and six Top-15 finishes at the track located just north of
downtown Fort Worth, Texas. Truex's best finish came in the fall of 2007
when he started on the Pole and finished third.
About Talladega: Martin Truex Jr. spent the majority of his Sunday
afternoon like much of the field, waiting. The driver and his team
jockeyed for position amongst fellow competitors for much of Sunday
afternoon's event at Talladega Superspeedway. That jockeying and a
perfect strategy, played right into Truex's hands late in the race.
However, as the field took the green with just two laps remaining, Truex
would find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time for the first
time during the three-hour event. Truex would fall victim to a
late-race crash involving multiple cars, eventually finishing the race
in the 31st position.
Bass Pro Shops on the Hood: Fans should be sure to look for the
familiar black and orange colors of longtime sponsor Bass Pro Shops and
Tracker Boats when the No. 1 Chevrolet of Martin Truex Jr. hits the
track this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Those fans needing to stock
up on all of their tailgating and camping needs should be sure to stop
by the Bass Pro Shops located at 2501 Bass Pro Drive in Grapevine, Texas
is located just minutes from Texas Motor Speedway. Those fans that are
seeking a place for a great meal and a frosty beverage should be sure to
check out the attached restaurant, Uncle Buck's Brewery and Steakhouse.
Truex at the SEMA Convention: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing's Martin Truex
Jr. will make an appearance at the Barrett-Jackson Planet Color booth
(#23743) at the SEMA Convention this Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 from 3:30pm
- 4:30pm.
Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Dream In Color Team
MEDIA ALERT: Juan Pablo Montoya will be available for a Hispanic media
Q&A session in Victory Theater on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10:15 a.m. E.T.
followed by his top-12 press conference in the media center at 10:45
a.m. ET.
The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup: Unpredictable Talladega resulted in
a 19th-place finish for Montoya. The finish boosted Montoya up one
position in the Chase standings to fourth. He is the only driver not
affiliated with Hendrick Motorsports in the top five after seven Chase
races. Montoya is 239 points out of the lead and just 47 points away
from third position.
The Chase Stats: Seven races into the 10-race Chase, Montoya is tied
with Johnson for the most top-five finishes with five, has the third
highest average running position of 8.1, second highest percentage of
the fastest laps run during a race with 10.8, and the second highest
driver rating at 111.6 in comparison to the other Chase drivers.
Dreaming In Color: Target partnered with four Hispanic influencers to
celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual Dream In Color
campaign, which celebrates diversity. The campaign features Earnhardt
Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Juan Pablo Montoya. The No. 42
Target Chevrolet team will run a very special Dream In Color paint
scheme at Texas Motor Speedway. The 2009 dreamers were selected by
Target for their compelling and encouraging stories and their passion to
inspire greatness in others. Please visit www.target.com/dreamincolor
for more information.
Talladega History: Juan Pablo Montoya will be making his sixth NSCS
start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. This marks the eighth race
of the Chase. Montoya has an average starting position of 14.4 and an
average finishing position of 20.4. He has completed 95.4% of the laps
and has led 10 laps. His best finish at Texas came in the spring race
earlier this year where he finished in the seventh position.
About Talladega: In true Talladega fashion, the outcome would remain
uncertain until the closing laps of the 188 lap race. From the drop of
the green flag, the shuffling began. Montoya ran as low as 39th and led
the field twice for a total of three laps during the race. The overall
handling of the race car was good and Montoya flirted with the top-five
for the majority of the day. Montoya would overcome running out of fuel
only to be involved in an on-track collision under green/white/checkered
conditions. Despite the chaos on track, Montoya would bring the No. 42
Target Chevrolet across the finish line in the 19th position and advance
himself one position in the Chase standings.

2009 In Numbers: Montoya and the Target team have accumulated two pole
awards, seven top fives, 17 top-10 (51.5%) and 21 top-15 finishes this
season. In the 33 Cup races run this season Montoya has earned 26 top-20
finishes. He has led 388 laps and averages a starting position of 12.1
and a finishing position of 13 for the season. They have completed 9558
of out 9579 possible laps (99.8%) this season which ranks first for
active drivers and have no DNF's (did not finish).
