Voice on the Go: Handsfree Email & Texting Makes Driving Safer

TORONTO--Voice on the Go, the originator of true handsfree mobile email and texting, today announced that Voice on the Go is the first application that enables drivers to listen to their email as well as compose email and SMS hands free, all by voice – while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. Voice on the Go is a safer alternative to typing or reading messages while driving as users can now listen to, compose, reply, forward and delete emails and send text messages, all by voice. Voice on the Go also enables cell phone users to access their contacts, place calls from their contact list, send Twitter tweets and update their Facebook profile – all hands free by voice.

Voice on the Go works with any cell phone including BlackBerry Smartphone, Apple iPhone, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Symbian, Nokia, Google Android and Palm Pre. Voice on the Go’s intuitive design requires no voice training and can be utilized with any Bluetooth headset or any in-car kit on any wireless network.

“Obviously, it is impossible to drive safely if you’re not watching where you’re going, and numerous high-profile incidents prove the dangers of texting and emailing while driving ,” said John McLeod, CEO, Voice on the Go. “Texting and emailing in cars is so pervasive that it is now a huge problem – as illustrated by the recent, much publicized Gwent Police video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3_x0CcdMRA),” McLeod continued. “In many countries it is illegal to make or receive a call while driving without handsfree capabilities, and I think everybody understands that typing or reading texts and emails while driving is significantly more dangerous.”

A recent study by Virginia Tech (http://www.vtti.vt.edu/PDF/7-22-09-VTTI-Press_Release_Cell_phones_and_Driver_Distraction.pdf) finds that drivers reading or typing messages are 23 times more likely get into an accident. The study states, “These results show conclusively that a real key to significantly improving safety is keeping your eyes on the road.” Voice on the Go’s unique voice solution helps increase safety on the road by enabling drivers to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel when texting and emailing.
