Hickory, NC : Ryan Robertson officially unveiled his new #31 Make -A-Wish Chevrolet at Lowe's Motor Speedway last Friday. The unveiling of the new car served as a fundraiser for the Central and Western North Carolina Make-A-Wish foundation and allowed for fans to get close to the up and coming driver .
After the unveiling, Robertson wasted no time getting to the track. Sunday night he raced the UARA-Stars race at Hickory Motor Speedway at the rescheduled Banjo Matthews Memorial 150, benefiting the Banjo Matthews Motorsports Scholarship fund. The UARA Stars-Series donated $1 to Make-A-Wish for every ticket bought at the race.
Robertson started the evening off by qualifying 12th, after his practice was cut short by a broken coil in the engine. The notoriously difficult track caused little trouble for the talented young drivers, with only four cautions for the night.
The first caution flag flew on lap 52, and the Robertson Motorsports team was able to make some adjustments to get Robertson running lap times comparable to the leaders.
Later in the race, there was light contact with another car, causing Robertson to spin, but he was able to quickly recover and maintain his position. During the last caution on Lap 121, Robertson was given the "lucky dog" putting him back on the lead lap. Robertson finished the race in 13th
"I am very thankful to all of our partners, WCWG CW20 and WSSU Motorsport Management , and for what we are able to do for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The support from the UARA-Stars Series has been tremendous," said Robertson.
On October 31st Robertson will be making another appearance in the UARA-Stars Sereis with his new paint scheme at Concord Speedway. There will be an opportunity for autographs at 6:15pm and racing stars at 7:30. The series will also be contributing $1 for every adult ticket purchased there to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
