Illume Software Raises an Additional $1 Million to Fuel Launch of iZUP, New Mobile Solution to Stop Texting and Driving

CONCORD, Mass.--Illume Software, a developer of location-critical software solutions, today announced that the company has raised $1 million in additional funding after previously closing $2.4 million in investment in February 2009. All funds have been raised from a syndicate of industry experts and private investors. The funds will help drive the development of Illume’s core technologies and specifically launch Illume's flagship product, iZUP™, a new mobile solution to reduce cell phone related distracted driving. iZUP will be available as a free preview version later this fall and will launch officially in December on Windows Mobile, Google Android, and Blackberry handsets.

Built upon unique, patent-pending technology, iZUP leverages GPS and its proprietary control server architecture to determine if a person is driving and other consumer characteristics. While driving, incoming calls are sent to voice mail and text messages are held until the vehicle stops and a driver can read and respond to them safely. iZUP also prevents outgoing communication while driving, yet always allows emergency calls to 9-1-1 and communication between authorized numbers, such as a parent’s cell phone. iZUP offers enhanced personalization as well, allowing parents to pre-set speeds for the application to commence.
