Rapid Electric Vehicles Delivers at Discovery Center’s Beyond Oil Conference

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--Rapid Electric Vehicles (REV), makers of the zero-emission, all-electric REV 300 ACX sport utility vehicle for the fleet market, will present at the annual Beyond Oil Conference, held October 23-24, 2009, at Microsoft’s Redmond-based executive conference centre. Leaders from Ford and Microsoft, as well as state and local government, will speak about their efforts to integrate information technology, sustainable transportation and smart growth strategies. REV CEO, Jay Giraud, will discuss electric vehicles and charging infrastructure solutions along with REV’s partner Charge Northwest, as part of the New Technology Showcase kicking off the conference on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 9:15 AM.

The Beyond Oil conference highlights efforts to shift from oil-dependent transportation infrastructure to more sustainable, clean and smart transportation solutions. President Obama has stated ‘America’s dependence on oil is one of the most serious threats that our nation has faced.’ Microsoft, Clean Cities, Ford and Idaho National Laboratory have partnered to provide a forum to highlight smart solutions to solve this problem—solutions like the ones Rapid Electric Vehicles offers to its customers.

“We are proving the technology,” said Jay Giraud. “We’ve put together the complete solution for fleets, including all-electric vehicles that meet fleet performance needs, advanced charging infrastructure, vehicle to grid communication software and a vehicle delivery system that provides local employment opportunities. We are among the first to deliver in this unique market.”

REV announced its first US-based fleet customer last week, the City of Santa Monica California, who according to Rick Sikes, fleet superintendent from the City of Santa Monica selected REV "because they have produced a high-quality conversion and they are leading the way with innovative, economical and eco-friendly solutions to help move fleets toward zero emission vehicles."

"We are encouraging municipalities in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the United States that want 100-percent electric fleet vehicles to join our Co-Development and Launch Partner Program,” said Giraud. “This program combines individual municipal orders into larger orders that will save nearly 30 percent of the pre-production costs."

REV will make its 300 ACX SUV available for fleet customer test-drives throughout the Beyond Oil conference in Redmond, WA on October 23-24, 2009. The REV 300 ACX can travel up to 100 miles on a single charge while maintaining the performance capabilities of the original vehicle. The REV all-electric fleet vehicle is efficient with regenerative braking, eGear drive transmission, and less than 10 moving parts. The vehicles are safe with built-in inertia switches, a manual safety disconnect, 4-wheel ABS brakes, and full system airbags. They are also reliable with one-tenth the maintenance, vehicle-to-grid ready, recharge in as little as 3.5 hours and have built-in fleet information systems.

About REV: Rapid Electric Vehicles (REV) is a leader in electric vehicle solutions for fleets, delivering a fully integrated solution for transforming and electrifying fleets. The complete solution provides everything fleets need to transform their existing passenger vehicles into 100 percent electric vehicles including: fast-install AC drive technology, integrated data management, charging stations, fleet charging management and V2G. The REV product eliminates vehicle emissions with a systems-integrated approach designed specifically for fleet operations while saving fuel and maintenance costs and increasing fleet-service life. For more information on REV visit http://www.rapidelectricvehicles.com. To participate in the REV Launch Partner Program please visit: http://www.rapidelectricvehicles.com/ordering.html. Follow REV on Twitter: http://twitter.com/revtechnologies.
