Ryan Robertson to Run Make-A-Wish(r) Car in UARA Series
- Unveiling at Lowes Motor Speedway This Weekend -

Winston-Salem, NC : Ryan Robertson will make his return to the UARA Series sporting a new paint scheme for the #31 Chevrolet. The team has created a unique platform around Make-A-Wish - an organization that has become very near and dear to the young driver's heart this year.

2009 has been a tumultuous year for the close-knit family owned team. A young member of the team who was also Ryan's roommate passed away after battling a rare form of cancer. Around the same time, Ryan was asked by the local Make-A-Wish chapter to do a celebrity appearance with the team's media partner, WCWG CW20.

"After learning more about the organization and meeting some of the kids, we just started talking", said Robertson. "We said - hey, I wonder if there's a way we can help here. Maybe we could pull together a lot of the players we're already working with and do something great for everyone involved - and ultimately something really great for Make-A-Wish."

Beginning with the last two races of the 2009 season and hopefully continuing into 2010, Robertson will pilot the #31 Make-A-Wish car. The UARA series has stepped up to help generate donations at the races, and the team's marketing agency is scheduling showcar appearances in the local area to help create awareness for the mission of Make-A-Wish using the race team as a platform.

The team's long-standing media partner, WCWG CW20, has also jumped on board and created a television ad supporting the organization and has built a promotion with Aaron's and the Winston-Salem State Motorsports Management Program around the unveiling of the car. The car will be on display this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway in the fan zone during the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races there.

"We're thrilled to be able to have this kind of grass-roots impact", said Don Timmons, Regional Director of the Central and Western North Carolina chapter of Make-A-Wish. "We're hopeful that this can be a long-term asset for Make-A-Wish in the area, and that there are many more corporate partners that will want to be a part of this unique effort. It's already proving to be a very robust tool for us with the races, activity at track, PR, driver and showcar appearances, media promotions, etc."

2009 is Robertson's second year in the UARA series after running a limited season last year as well. After a solid showing in the Bailey's 300 in Martinsville earlier this month, the young driver is looking forward to getting back on the local late model circuit.

"It's been a tough year for us, but we're excited about the difference we will be able to make not only on the track but in the lives of many children in the area. We're looking forward to Hickory this weekend, putting on a good show for everyone and helping Make-A-Wish. Thanks in particular to the folks at WCWG CW20, Winston-Salem State, and the UARA Series for making all of this happen."
