The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on October 14

 

 

Newberrytown, PA (October 12, 2009) - The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park.  It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval.  The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination).  Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class.  Each session will be 6 - 8 laps per session.  The grandstands are open free to the public.  Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.  The fuel pumps from Miller's Racing Parts will not be open.  Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller's Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181.  The main concession stand will be open throughout the night. 

 

Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights.  The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and "cold pit" areas.  All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the "Big Track."

 

A raindate, if necessary will be announced. 

 

 

Fall Finale at SSP Outback Track Postponed Until Saturday, October 17

 

 

Newberrytown, PA (September 26, 2009) - The racing action at the SSP Outback Track for Saturday night, September 26 has been postponed due to rain.  The race will be rescheduled for Saturday night, October 17 at 6:00 p.m. featuring quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcar racing action.  The pit gates will open 3:30 p.m. with a driver's meeting at 5:45 p.m.  Open practice will be from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and racing action begins at 6:00 p.m.  There will be no sanctioning body affiliation for either karts or quarter midgets, but the technical/specification rules will be very similar to the major sanctioning groups for these types of cars (W.K.A. and QMA).  

 

The entry fees for each class will be $15.00 per entry and participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class).  Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class.  No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.  Pit pass prices for races at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 15 & older; Children ages 9 - 14 are $5.00; Children 8 years of age and under are $3.00.  Hand held infants are admitted free.   

 

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. 6th Annual Miller's Racing Parts Fall Classic Slated for Friday & Saturday, October 23 & 24 at SSP

Newberrytown, PA (October 5, 2009) - The popular 2-day 6th Miller's Racing Parts Fall Classic returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 featuring the Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and the Four Cylinder Stock Cars.  The 50-lap Street Stock Championship Event will pay a possible $28,000-to-win as the winner will receive a guaranteed $3,000 with the chance to win an additional bonus of $25,000 in victory lane through the "Lucky Envelope Contest."  In victory lane, if the winner of the race correctly picks the two matching envelopes marked "Winner" on the inside from twenty envelopes, that driver will win the $25,000 bonus.  In order to be eligible for either the winner's bonus or lead lap bonus, the driver must be pre-entered for the event by Monday, October 19, 2009.  Other bonus prizes for the Street Stocks are available from Bernheisel Racecars; AFCO Racing Products; Miller's Racing Parts and more.  

On Friday night, October 23, the program will consist of warm-ups and qualifying heat races for Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and Four Cylinder Stock Cars.  Street Stock heat races are presented by Blazer's Body Shop and pay $25.00 to win, $15.00 for second and $10.00 for third.    

Two new events for the Fall Classic this year include a Street Stocks Cash Dash and Tire Changing Contest.  The Cash Dash presented by HTMA / W&W Racing Tires will consist of the 1st and 2nd place finishers from each Street Stock heat with the finishing order determining the stating spots for the 50-lap Fall Classic Championship Race on Saturday.  The Tire Changing Contest for both the Street Stocks and Xtreme Stocks presented by Miller's Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg will conclude the events on Friday night with the winning team collecting $150.00 for their efforts.

 

Gates will open on Friday for both the pit area and grandstand area at 5:00 p.m.  Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m.    

 

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Friday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $10.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $9.00; Children (10 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $20.00.   The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.    

 

Then Saturday, October 24, the show will feature a 50-lap Street Stock feature (all green flag laps with no scheduled fuel stops), 40-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature (all green flag laps with no scheduled fuel stops), 30-lap Four Cylinder Stock Cars feature (all green flag laps with no scheduled fuel stops).  There will also be last chance qualifying races for the Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and the Four Cylinder Stock Cars.

The 40-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event on Saturday will pay $1,000.00 to the winner.  All qualifying will be done through heats, C-Main and B-Main events.  There will be an inversion drawn for the feature event by the winner of the first heat race.  A blind draw will determine the heat race lineups.  

The 30-lap Four Cylinder Stock Car feature event will pay $750.00 to the winner.  All qualifying will be done through heats, C-Main and B-Main events.  There will be an inversion drawn for the feature event by the winner of the first heat race.  A blind draw will determine the heat race lineups.    

Gates will open on Saturday for both the pit area at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstands at 4:00 p.m.    Warmups begin at 5:30 p.m. with racing action beginning at 6:00 p.m.

At last year's Fall Classic, Doug Hoffman of Newville only led the final two feet of the race, but it was enough to earn the $3,000 victory in the 50-lap Street Stock main event over Paul Morgan at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night.  The Street Stock feature was one of three divisions featured at the 5th Annual Miller's Racing Parts Fall Classic presented in part with Insinger Performance Fuels.  Mifflintown's Jason Zook won the Xtreme Stock Car 40 lapper as Dave Leidy Jr. of Neelyton wired the field in the 30-lap Four Cylinder Stock Car feature.

J&K Salvage Candy Bowl V on Tap for Saturday, October 31

 

Newberrytown, PA (October 8, 2009) - The 5th Annual Candy Bowl presented by J&K Salvage of York will be held on Saturday, October 31.  This event will feature the wingless ARDC Midgets, 600cc Micro Sprints, Legends Cars, Lincoln/Trailways Speedway Thundercars and Mini Vans.  Before the midget feature begins, the cars and drivers in all divisions will be brought to the frontstretch for the children in costumes to trick or treat.  This will also be a great opportunity for everyone to visit their favorite drivers to get pictures and autographs.  The raindate will be Sunday, November 1 with the same time schedule, if necessary.

 

The Thundercars race is presented by Byers Tires and will pay $500.00 to the winner.

 

Gates will open for the pit area at 12:30 p.m. and grandstand area at 1:00 p.m.  Practice begins at 2:15 p.m. with racing action beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Turkey 200 Presented by Keller Williams Realty on Saturday, November 7 to Close Out the 2009 SSP Racing Season

 

 

Newberrytown, PA (September 24, 2009) - On Saturday afternoon, November 7, the Susquehanna Speedway Park will host the 6th Annual Turkey 200 presented by Keller Williams Realty to close out its 2009 racing season.  Also the Classic Cars and Mini Vans will take to the track before the Enduro events.  The Big Car (8-Cylinder) Enduro event will follow the specifications for the Xtreme Stock Car division that ran weekly at SSP during the 2009 season.  There will also be a Small Car (4/6-Cylinder) Enduro will follow the SSP Road Warrior rules (a.k.a. Strictly Stocks at other speedway).  Although the 6-cylinders are not permitted in the regular season Road Warrior division, the class will follow the same rules with the exception that the 6-cylinder engine is permitted.  Each competitor must supply their own scorer.  There will be a separate meeting for all scorers at 12:30 p.m.  

 

The Big Car (8 Cylinder/XSC) Enduro event will be 125 laps regardless of the number of entries.  The purse payout will be based on entry numbers: 75 or more entries: 1. $1,500.00; 2. $600.00; 3. $500.00; 4. $300.00; 5. $250.00 / 61 - 74  entries: 1. $1,250.00; 2. $550.00; 3. $400.00; 4. $250.00; 5. $200.00 / 51 - 60 entries: 1. $1,000.00; 2. $500.00; 3. $325.00; 4. $200.00; 5. $150.00 / 41 - 50 entries: 1. $1,000.00; 2. $400.00; 3. $250.00; 4. $150.00; 5. $125.00 / 31 - 40 entries: 1. $1,000.00; 2. $300.00; 3. $175.00; 4. $125.00; 5. $100.00 / 30 or less entries: 1. $1,000.00; 2. $250.00; 3. $125.00; 4. $100.00; 5. $75.00.   

 

The Small Car (4/6-Cylinder) Enduro event will be 75 laps regardless of the number of entries for each class.  Both types of cars will be run in the same race with separate payouts for the 6-cylinders and 4-cylinders.  The purse payout will be based on entry numbers per group (separate pay for 4-cylinders and 6-cylinders): 75 or more entries: 1. $1000.00; 2. $500.00; 3. $400.00; 4. $300.00; 5. $250.00 / 61 - 74  entries: 1. $750.00; 2. $400.00; 3. $300.00; 4. $200.00; 5. $175.00 / 51 - 60 entries: 1. $500.00; 2. $300.00; 3. $250.00; 4. $150.00; 5. $125.00 / 41 - 50 entries: 1. $500.00; 2. $250.00; 3. $200.00; 4. $125.00; 5. $100.00 / 31 - 40 entries: 1. $500.00; 2. $200.00; 3. $150.00; 4. $100.00; 5. $  75.00 / 30 or less entries: 1. $500.00; 2. $150.00; 3. $100.00; 4. $  75.00; 5. $  50.00.   

Pre-entry for the event is encouraged but not mandatory.  A Pre-entry with the fee must be postmarked by Monday, November 2, 2009.  All entries postmarked on or after Tuesday, November 3, 2009 will be higher fee.  Entries will be taken on the day of the event.  The starting positions for the Turkey 200 Enduros will be aligned through a blind draw at the pit gate on the day of the event.  As an extra bonus, all pre-entrants will be able to draw a second time for a starting position if he or she does not like their first draw for position.  However, the entrant must take the second drawn spot regardless of whether or not it is a better starting position. Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 11:00 a.m. with racing action beginning at 1:00 p.m.    

 

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 for everyone with the minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age.  A copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.    The Entry Fee for the Driver includes the pit pass with the entry.

Point championships for the Classic Cars and Mini Vans will conclude with the Turkey 200 event.  The raindate for the event will be Sunday, November 8.
