WARWICK, UNITED KINGDOM – October 12, 2009: At Equip’Auto 2009 Delphi is showcasing a number of its customised versions of its standard Delphi diagnostic platform, including dedicated diagnostic solutions for Ministry of Transport (MOT) & National Car Tests (NCT) across Europe, including the UK (VOSA), Belgium (GOCA) and Denmark. In all of these cases, Delphi has adapted its diagnostic platforms to satisfy the precise legal requirements of mandatory car tests in each country while still using its standard hardware and communication platforms.

“It has always been our strategy to adapt our software to meet the changing needs of the service and repair market, negating the need for expensive hardware changes or purchases for our customers,” said Lucia Moretti, Vice President, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, EMEA. “This ensures our customers can get the maximum amount of usability and return on their initial investment.”

In addition to the MOT software enhancements, Delphi is launching a Diagnostic Solution specifically for the Crash Repair Markets in conjunction with Thatcham, also known as The Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre. Thatcham was established in 1969 by British insurers to provide a unique range of products and services to the insurance and motor repair industries. Thatcham conducts research and produce data that assists technicians in the efficient, safe and cost effective repair of motor vehicles.

Delphi and Thatcham have joined forces to provide essential diagnostic equipment, functionality and training for Accident Repair Centres (ARC). Historically, the vast majority of Accident Repair Centres are mechanically orientated and as such, many are outsourcing even basic diagnostic work, e.g. SLR, Read / Erase Fault Codes, MIL resetting, etc. Delphi has developed a customised diagnostic software and hardware solution specifically for Thatcham and its Accident Repair Centres’ customers that links to Thatcham’s existing technical data software.

“Following a comprehensive review of automotive diagnostic and service providers, we chose to partner with Delphi,” explained Jason Moseley, chief executive, Thatcham. “Delphi’s flexible diagnostic solution and comprehensive support programme will enable Thatcham to introduce a very easy- to-use but extremely powerful and effective diagnostic solution for Accident Repair Centres. Delphi and Thatcham are perfectly positioned to help Crash Repair technicians meet the challenges they are faced with the growing complexity of their jobs due to the on going proliferation of vehicle electronics and diagnostics on modern vehicles.

In addition to these exciting customized solutions Delphi is continuing to increase its vehicle coverage on its existing Diagnostic range – targeting 20 percent growth year over year.
