Baker provisional No. 13 in Richmond
DINWIDDIE, Va. (October 9, 2009) - At any other race track this season, a
Pro Mod running a 6.027 at 239.10 mph would most likely be good enough to
make the top half of the field, but at this weekend's Get Screened America
Pro Mod Challenge event at the NRHA Virginia Nationals at Virginia
Motorsports Park just outside of Richmond, driver Joe Baker found out that a
6.02 is only good enough to take a provisional No. 13.
"We really had a great run, and there's a whole lot more in the car. At this
track, the conditions are always so good that a low six might not even make
the field at the end of the day," Baker said.
"We were able to get that good lap in in the first round, and we thought we
would make a mid 5.90 in that second round, but we had a little tire shake
that cost me a decent lap
.
"The good news is that we're in the show, especially if it rains tomorrow.
We also know we've got a lot more in the car, so we're in a really good
position when we get around to eliminations," he said.
Weather permitting, the final round of qualifying is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, with eliminations scheduled to begin Saturday evening with the B&J
Transmissions Bonus round at 4:00 p.m. The balance of eliminations is
scheduled to run Sunday afternoon.
