KABTO Co., Ltd. Wins Order from F1 Race Site Suzuka Circuit for Earthquake Early Warning Receiving System

TOKYO--KABTO Co., Ltd. today announced that it had won an order from the Suzuka Circuit, which on October 2-4 hosted the Formula 1 Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix Race for the first time in three years, for a system to receive alerts from the Japan Meteorological Agency ("JMA") Earthquake Early Warning system ("EEW"). This made the Suzuka Circuit the first F1 Grand Prix site in the world with a system able to receive such earthquake early warning alerts.

In September 2009, KABTO Co., Ltd. which provides risk management services related to business continuity planning (BCP), received an order from Mobilityland Corporation, operators of the Suzuka Circuit, for a system to receive alerts from the JMA's Earthquake Early Warning system, to be installed as part of the Suzuka Circuit’s earthquake response measures. The system installed was the QCAST Series version of the Emergency Earthquake Warning System, already widely used by various government offices and agencies. By becoming the world's first F1 racetrack equipped with an EEW system, Suzuka Circuit hoped to provide a world-class level of disaster preparedness for F1 racing, which is held at sites around the globe. Mobilityland Corporation implemented the system on a large scale throughout other non-racing facilities on the site, and further strengthened its safety measures so that, in the event of a major earthquake, all visitors to Suzuka Circuit could receive advance warning.
