Mooresville,
NC – Kyle Cattanach drove through the pack three times, slicing together a
fifth place finish in the “I-5 Tire Company 125?? in the #59 Superior Crankshaft
Chevrolet on Sunday evening at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif.

The 24
year-old made the most of his first start in over a year, fending off a strong
field of 25 Super Late Models.

Action
began Saturday afternoon with Cattanach timing in fourth quick on the charts
with a 15.962 second lap around the three-eighths mile oval.

After
starting ninth in his qualifying heat race, Cattanach moved forward to fourth
in the Philpott Race Cars-prepared entry. A late race incident relegated
Cattanach to a tenth place finish. The finish slotted Cattanach 10th
on the starting grid for the 125 lapper on Sunday.

Cattanach
caught the field sleeping at the start of the race and went to seventh early.
Avoiding several crashes and running strong through many restarts, Cattanach
assumed third by lap 22.

On lap 34,
Cattanach made contact with another racer in turn three and was sent spinning.
He had to pit for a new left rear tire as well.

Restarting
17th, Cattanach raced just 12 laps before he was gathered up in a
crash in turn one. Quick action by both driver and spotter avoided catastrophe
with Cattanach only loosing a fender.

After a
pit stop to tape down the hood, Cattanach began methodically knifing his way
forward. By lap 46, Cattanach had moved into tenth position. On the 80th
lap of the race, Cattanach found himself back in the fifth position.

On the
lap 80 restart, Cattanach passed Gary Glenn to move into fourth position. The
top-four cars ran nose-to-tail around the high-speed oval until Cattanach fell
into fifth on lap 98.

A
seven-car scramble for lead over the last 25 laps saw Cattanach shuffled back
to seventh, before he maneuvered through an additional crash to earn a fifth
place finish.

A wild
up-and-down weekend for Cattanach netted a fifth place finish in his return
behind the wheel. Cattanach will return to action for the Las Vegas Fall
Classic on November 5-7. Cattanach will again drive the #59 Superior Crankshaft Chevy in the 200 lap
Super Late Model race.
