Miller Barrett Racing - Homestead preview
Miller Barrett Racing will complete its 2009 test program at the Grand-Am
Rolex Sports Car Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 10.
Newlywed Bryce Miller of Summit, N.J., and Kevin Roush of Upland, Calif.,
will drive the No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for Marquis Jet, IPC Systems
and Total Lubricants.
The new team started a four-race test program with a GT class-leading
performance in the Rolex Series race at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International in
August. It continued with races at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montréal) and
Miller Motorsports Park (Tooele, Utah), and will collect final 2009 data at
this week's race in Homestead, Fla.
“We are anxious for our next race at Homestead because of some new changes,
but also because we plan to return to some of the basic fundamentals which
were so successful for us at Watkins Glen earlier this year," Miller said.
"The team is really motivated for a result and it would be good to
demonstrate pace at our last race of the season.”
Miller and Jill Meyer were married in Long Island, N.Y., on Oct. 3. In true
racer style, they have delayed their honeymoon until after this week's race
and the series champions banquet on Oct. 12. Miller noted: “I will have to
drive well at Homestead because it is technically my honeymoon. I am very
fortunate Jill supports and shares the interest of my sport – she makes me a
better man and a better driver.”
Roush hopes to take the No. 48 Porsche to the front of the GT field again,
as he did at Watkins Glen. This week's race will be his first start on the
2.3-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway infield road course.
"The Miller Barrett team has been spending loads of time, talent and
treasure on our effort and we are optimistic about unloading in
Homestead-Miami with a stronger package. Being the last event of the season,
everyone wants to finish-up with a great result and I hope we execute," he
said.
"It will be my first visit to Homestead and Grand-Am will be running
alongside the IndyCar Series, so it will be a real cool event to be part of.
Thanks to Paul Miller, Bryce and my partners at Wheel Enhancement and JSI
Shipping for helping make this a possibility."
