Crum Wins Country's Biggest Late Model Race Of The Year [cid:image005.jpg@01CA45BB.C9AF24E0] Martinsville, VA: Jake "The Snake" Crum, driver of the #1 Team Crum Racing Chevrolet came ready to run at the Bailey's 300 at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia. Every year, the best late model drivers in the country come to compete in the largest race of the year. This year there were 84 cars competing for 42 positions of this 200 lap race. Crum started the weekend tenaciously qualifying 11th on Saturday afternoon. From the beginning of the race Crum patiently worked his way through the field and into 5th place at the halfway point. At lap 100, the number 5 was drawn for the invert putting Jake "The Snake" Crum on the pole. Crum was able to immediately build a significant lead over the rest of the field. When Crum encountered a lapped car, who began to block him from moving forward, it allowed the field to close the gap. Crum began to battle with another car for the lead, exchanging places several times before a late caution brought the field back together for a green/white/checkered flag. Crum feared he had a tire going down, but guts and determination pushed him to persevere to the end. The top three drivers were three wide going into the corner and Crum dove hard into the turn to pull ahead for the 1st place finish. "Words cannot describe how excited I am about the win. I have always wanted to be able to burn tires and climb the fence here at Martinsville and today we were able to do just that. My crew chief, B.J. Mackey, was unbelievable today.
