MELBOURNE – October 5, 2009: The Honda Foundation and Robert Lane Honda in Melbourne, have delivered the residents of Bayley House’s Lubrano Street accommodation with a new set of wheels – a Honda Odyssey.

The Odyssey will enable the residents at the supported accommodation home to travel in style to social activities, day programs, outings and other important appointments.

Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Lindsay Smalley said, “The Foundation is very pleased to offer this Odyssey for use by Bayley House. It will provide the residents of Lubrano Street with a stylish and comfortable vehicle to take them where ever they need to be.”

The Odyssey will be serviced by the fantastic staff at Robert Lane Honda, who are strong supporters of Bayley House. Sam Lane, General Manager of Robert Lane Honda said, “This is a fabulous program to be involved in. Bayley House does such a great job supporting people in our local area. It is wonderful for us to be able to give something back to the community and help Bayley House in this way.”

Ann Parry, Manager of Residential Services received the keys to the new Honda Odyssey. “We are very grateful to The Honda Foundation for recognising the needs of our residents. Our Lubrano Street house has been without a dedicated vehicle for a while now. At times, one of our fleet buses is available but mostly the guys had to travel in a staff member’s car or make their way around the community on public transport or by bike. This car will make an enormous difference to their ability to participate more in community based activities and give us time to seek funding to purchase a vehicle.”

Bayley House, based in the Melbourne suburb of Brighton, is a not-for-profit organisation that assists over 160 adults with an intellectual disability. Their services include day activity programs, prevocational workshop experience, after hours recreational and leisure activities as well as important accommodation services. Their focus is on teaching, developing and maintaining skills through participation in their great programs.

The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill between Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public. It draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia, who donate $15 ($5 and $10 respectively) for every Honda car sold.
