RAIN POSTPONES ELIMINATIONS AT MEMPHIS

RAIN WASHES OUT ELIMINATIONS IN O’REILLY MID-SOUTH NATIONALS
Countdown to 1 Racing Re-Scheduled for Monday at Memphis Motorsports Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Persistent and unexpected day-long rain forced NHRA
officials to postpone final eliminations in the 22nd annual O’Reilly Auto Parts
Mid-South Nationals Sunday at Memphis Motorsports Park.

The racing program will resume at 10 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
ESPN2 television coverage of the third race in the NHRA’s Countdown to 1
playoffs will air from 7-10 p.m. Monday.

Although rain was forecast for late Sunday afternoon, a steady drizzle
greeted racers and fans upon arrival Sunday morning and the downpour
intensified throughout the day.

As a result, Robert “Top Gun?? Hight’s ongoing bid for the Full Throttle
championship will have to wait at least until Monday. Hight, winner of the
first two races in the Countdown, will send the Automobile Club of
Southern California Ford Mustang to the starting line from the No. 1 qualifying
position for the 32nd time in his career.

Hight will oppose rookie Justin Schriefer in round one with a potential
match-up with Ron Capps in round two.
