Jason Miller Lays Claim to the 4th Annual Susquehanna Showdown on Saturday Night at SSP

Newberrytown, PA (October 3, 2009) - Germansville's Jason Miller made his first-ever visit to the Susquehanna Showdown a memorable one by winning the 50 lap Cumberland Truck Parts Late Model feature event with a next to last lap pass of Bobby Beard at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night. Miller collected $5,000 for his win, but failed to choose the correct two envelopes for the $25,000 bonus. With an amazing nineteen cars finishing on the lead lap, Miller chose the 17th position from a bucket of poker chips in victory lane to have the opportunity to win $25,000 in another Lucky Envelope Contest presented by JR's Paving and Sealing. Tyler Armstrong, the 17th place finisher also failed to win the $25,000.

Pole sitter, Bobby Beard grabbed the lead from the start with Justin Ehrhart in hot pursuit during the early stages of the 50 lapper. A caution on lap four for three spinning cars in turn four slowed the field. On the restart, Ehrhart continued to pressure Beard, challenging for the top spot on every lap. More cautions on laps 10 and 15 bunched up the field. The lap 15 restart would be the final caution for the remainder of the race. Ehrhart and Beard battled side-by-side lap after lap throughout the middle stages. Once the two entered lapped traffic on the 30th circuit, Beard skillfully used the other competitors to keep Ehrhart at bay. On lap 38, Miller began his charge by overtaking Ehrhart for the runner-up spot.

With two laps remaining, Miller made the winning pass of Beard and held on to claim the $5,000 first place prize. Beard finished a strong second place but was disqualified in post-race technical inspection for modified cylinder heads not permitted by the specification rules. Ehrhart was then awarded the runner-up position. Randy Christine, Jr. finished third, followed by Charles Potts and Carl Graves in fourth and fifth. Cam Zeigler was awarded the "Hard Charger Award" by picking up 15 positions to finish 10th after starting at the rear of the field through a provisional starting spot.

Jason Rochelle won the 30-lap Legends Cars National Qualifier event over Brian Weitzel. Scott Houdeshell finished third.

Chad Weaver won the 25-lap Road Warrior World Championship. On Friday night, Jason Anderson won the 25-lap Susquehanna Recyclers Mini Van World Championship.
