Ragin' Cajun Hot Again at Kansas:
Hal Martin Posts Another Top Ten Finish in ARCA Series

Kansas City, KS: Hal Martin has had just three ARCARE/MAX Series starts in his blossoming career this season, and for the third time he has got everyone asking "who is this kid?" The young 23 year old driver from Louisiana's hurricane alley has taken the series by storm, finishing 11th in his ARCA debut at Mansfield, then coming from the back to finish 3rd at Chicagoland in August, and posting a 9th place finish at Kansas Speedway on Thursday.

Martin posted the 4th fastest practice time of the day Thursday, and started 12th in the Cunningham Motorsports #4 Dodge after rain washed out qualifying. The track conditions went through an abrupt change as the clouds parted, the winds shifted and the sun shined down on the 1.5 mile tri-oval just in time for the start of the 100 lap race.

The "Ragin' Cajun," began to pick his way through the field quickly, and by lap 20 had secured the eighth spot. The team pitted during a caution on lap 39 for fresh tires and made some slight adjustments to match the changing track conditions.

By the midway point of the race, Martin was running 4th and held that position among the leaders.

The caution flag flew on lap 94, bringing a two lap shootout for the checkered flag. What Martin and his team did not realize was that there was a slow leak in the right front tire, and that the slower speed under caution had caused the tire to lose pressure. When the green flag flew, the car had become unstable and Martin lost a few precious positions, finishing still an impressive ninth for the night.

"We definitely had a top five car again today", said Martin. "It's frustrating when something like that happens right at the end of a great run. It was dicey out there a few times, but we managed to get through all the lapped traffic pretty well. It's been a ball running in the ARCA series this season, and I'm really looking forward to next year."
