Toyota, Daihatsu to Show 11 Vehicles at 36th H.C.R. Show
Tokyo, Sept 25, 2009; TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATIONand DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD. announce they plan to display 11 specially equipped vehicles at the 36th International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R.). The H.C.R. event - the largest of its kind in Japan - is to run from September 29 to October 1 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) in Tokyo.
TMC and Daihatsu have been developing and marketing vehicles specially equipped for the disabled, much in response to Japan's aging population and to promote barrier-free environments. TMC and Daihatsu will display such vehicles and explain their approach to vehicle development.
TMC and Daihatsu will continue to actively engage in the development and provision of vehicles that meet a variety of needs, based on their fundamental philosophy of fostering a prosperous society through the manufacture of vehicles.
1) TMC exhibit (324 m2)
TMC plans to display seven vehicles, including a third-generation "Prius" equipped with the Friendmatic Seat Type IV, launched on July 31. The vehicle features the newly developed Welcarry device, which allows a wheelchair user to automatically stow a wheelchair on the vehicle's roof.
TMC intends to further expand the Welcab series' distinctive functions to enhance customer satisfaction.

2) Daihatsu exhibit (180 m2)
Daihatsu plans to display four vehicles, including the "Tanto Welcome Seat", equipped with a power-lift passenger seat; and the "Tanto Sloper", which can accommodate a passenger in a wheelchair. The vehicles are based on the Tanto series, which offer one of the most expansive cabin spaces in the minivehicle class and a wide entranceway thanks to a pillar-less, powered sliding door. The result is both a comfortable ride and outstanding ingress and egress.
Daihatsu aims to continue to provide customers with a comfortable car-related lifestyle that will meet their needs by handling everything from the development of the Friendship Series - centered on user-friendly mini-vehicles that are both easy-to-operate and economical - to the provision of finely-tuned sales services and after-sales support.
