TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – September 23: The Honda Foundation has achieved another milestone, donating more than $7.4 million to Australian charities and organisations.
Established in 1992, The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill between Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public.
Chairman of The Honda Foundation Mr. Lindsay Smalley said, “The Honda Foundation gives Honda Australia and its Dealer network the opportunity to give back to the community, by assisting local charities and organisations that dedicate their time to the less fortunate and to those involved in medical research.
“It is more important than ever to assist charitable organisations during these times of economic uncertainty and Honda is committed to providing ongoing support in this way,” Mr. Smalley said.
In accordance with its aims, the Foundation provides financial assistance to Australian charities or organisations that:
The Honda Foundation has already assisted 41 Australian charities in 2009, including a $200,000 donation to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal to help victims of Black Saturday. Other organisations to receive donations include Youth Off The Streets in New South Wales, the Children’s Protection Society in Victoria, the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation in South Australia and Queensland Baptist Care.
The Honda Foundation draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia, who donate $15 ($5 and $10 respectively) for every Honda car sold.
