DOVER, September 22, 2009: The local driver just became the hometown hero. Martin Truex Jr., always a fan favorite at the Monster Mile, has purchased 100 tickets to the “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race for select fans who were unable to renew their September race tickets due to hardships brought on by the economic downturn or other unforeseen circumstances.

Loyal Dover International Speedway ticket holders were contacted and told of Truex’s special donation of tickets to the upcoming “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup” race. The list was compiled from letters or personal stories shared by fans during the ticket renewal period for the Sept. 25-27 race weekend.

“When we heard that Dover had a list of fans who wanted to come to the race but couldn’t for one reason or another, we decided to take care of them,” said Truex, driver of the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. “The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation is always looking for new ways to help those in need in the NASCAR community, and we felt this was a great way to support fans who wanted to be at the race in Dover. Dover obviously has a special place in my heart.”

The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, based in Mooresville, N.C,. is a nonprofit organization that positively impacts the lives of children in need. More information is available at www.martintruexjrfoundation.org.

Truex, from Mayetta, N.J., is scheduled to pull double duty at Dover by running both the Saturday, Sept. 26 NASCAR Nationwide Series race and the Sunday, Sept. 27 AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion occasionally makes a start in NASCAR’s No. 2 series, often times at Dover, the site of his only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory.

The Dover weekend is a special one for the Truex family as Martin’s younger brother Ryan makes his debut on the high banks of the Monster Mile. Ryan, driver of the No. 00 NAPA Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Series, currently leads the East Series point standings with two races to go. While the race is tight at the top of the standings, Truex could clinch the series championship at his home track in the “Sunoco 150” on Friday, Sept. 25.

Tickets are on sale for the entire Sept. 25-27, 2009 race weekend, and great seats still remain for all three days. For tickets, call 800-441-RACE or visit DoverSpeedway.com.
