Quanta Technology Selects Cinterion LGA Modules for Tracking and Tracing Solutions in Brazil

MUNICH & SAO PAULO--Cinterion Wireless Modules, the global leader in cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication modules, announced today that Quanta Technology has selected the company as their exclusive module supplier for tracking and tracing solutions for cars and motorcycles. Quanta, a leader in automotive equipment in Brazil, will integrate Cinterion’s superior LGA modules in its line of products to ensure new Brazilian automotive law requirements are met, and to ensure increased efficiencies and cost savings creating by integrating M2M.

Part of Cinterion’s Evolution Platform, the LGA modules selected by Quanta include EGS5 and BGS3. Both feature Cinterion’s unique, efficient and reliable surface mount technology, which enables fully automated “pick-and-place” manufacturing for mass production for Quanta’s M2M applications. The modules feature optimized pad size and layout and enable customer specific overprinting and full flexibility for soldering paste selection during manufacturing for optimal performance and yield. In addition, the LGA module series is fully scalable from basic GSM/GPRS up to EDGE functionality for cost effective product evolution as technology needs change.

Quanta’s new solutions, Tetros Motorcycle 245 and Tetros Car 245, integrate Cinterion modules to enable real time communications and remote visibility of moving vehicles. The Cinterion powered products meet all specifications of Brazil’s National Council of Traffic automotive law which requires mandatory tracking and tracing or anti-theft solutions on all new cars, motorcycles, trucks and buses by October 2010 or earlier.
