SEOUL, KOREA – September 22, 2009: GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) today introduced the 2010 model year Lacetti Premiere compact sedan, which features a new 1.8-liter gasoline engine. The new model, which goes by the name of Lacetti Premiere ID (Identity), will go on sale from October.

“With demand for compact cars growing, the Lacetti Premiere ID will strengthen GM Daewoo’s compact sedan lineup,” said Rick LaBelle, GM Daewoo Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “Along with the current Lacetti Premiere 1.6 and Diesel, the new Lacetti Premiere ID, which takes driving performance to a new level, will give consumers yet another reason to choose our global compact.”

The 1.8-liter ECOTEC III engine that powers the new Lacetti Premiere ID delivers maximum power of 142 ps at 6,200 rpm and maximum torque of 17.8 kg.m at 3,800 rpm. The new engine adopts variable valve timing on both inlet and exhaust sides for optimal timing, resulting in more power as well as lower fuel consumption and emissions. The newly adopted variable intake manifold also delivers improved launch and acceleration at high speeds. Combined with a six-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, the Lacetti Premiere ID achieves fuel efficiency of 13.3 km/ℓ.

Piston-cooling oil jets for enhanced lubrication have increased engine longevity and extended maintenance intervals. The toothed timing belt is also virtually maintenance-free. It does not need to be changed for 10 years or 160,000 km.

Another notable feature is speed-sensitive Rack Electric Power Steering (R-EPS), which is newly tuned for more responsiveness with good on-center feel and driver feedback. This new electric power steering system runs off the battery rather than the engine, reducing engine load.

The global benchmark safety of the vehicle is as impressive as its engineering and performance. The Lacetti Premiere has received a maximum five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (A-NCAP) and China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP). These great results make the Lacetti Premiere one of the safest cars in its segment.

Along with the Lacetti Premiere ID, upgraded 2010 models with 1.6-liter gasoline and 2.0-liter diesel engines are also being introduced. Newly applied premium features in the 2010 Lacetti Premiere include Bluetooth compatibility and a USB jack located in the car’s center console that enables the playing of downloaded digital audio music files such as MP3. The USB jack also provides true iPod capability, enabling recharging and control of MP3 or iPod devices via the steering wheel or audio system.

The new 2010 Lacetti Premiere ID comes with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard, in two trim levels. The SX model is priced at KRW 16.1 million and the CDX at KRW 17 million.

The 2010 Lacetti Premiere 1.6 is priced at KRW 11.8 million for the SE (M/T), KRW 15.7 million for the SX (A/T) and KRW 16.6 million for the CDX (A/T).

The 2010 Lacetti Premiere Diesel 2.0 is priced at KRW 17 million for the SX (M/T) and KRW 19.5 million for the CDX (A/T).
