American Traffic Solutions Founder Named CEO of the Year; Company Named Number 3 on Fastest-Growing Companies List and 44th Largest Private Arizona Business by Arizona Corporate Excellence Awards
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--American Traffic Solutions™ (ATS) is pleased to announce that it was recognized with three prestigious awards at the Arizona Corporate Excellence (ACE) Awards ceremony held September 17th in Phoenix. ATS was ranked number 3 on the 2009 list of the Top 25 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in Arizona and was also recognized as the 44th largest privately-held company in Arizona. ACE also named ATS’ James Tuton CEO of the Year. Tuton was recognized for his leadership, vision and tenacity. In 1987, he first introduced the concept of photo enforcement in North America, partnering with the Town of Paradise Valley, Arizona on the nation’s first photo-enforcement safety program. Today, more than 500 communities operate life-saving red-light and speed camera programs to improve the mobility and safety of their roadways. Tuton not only had to create a unique business model to succeed, but he had to invent an industry in order for his company to thrive.

ATS’ public safety division serves more than 200 communities in 21 American states and two Canadian provinces, with 2,173 red-light and speed cameras under contract in North America. In the past year, ATS added more than 75 communities to its client roster and significantly expanded its commercial services division with new products and offerings. Approximately 200 new employees joined ATS in the past twelve months, bringing the company’s total employment to more than 700 talented team members.
