FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONCORD, N.C. (September 18, 2009) – For the first time in USARacing Pro Cup Series history, the highly competitive short-track circuit will be a companion event to NASCAR's Nationwide Series when it visits Iowa Speedway next year in late July, it was announced Friday by Vice President and Series Director Jimmy Wilson.

The USAR Pro Cup Series will display its tough, fender-to-fender style of racing on Friday, July 30, with NASCAR's Nationwide Series scheduled for the next day.

“We were the first event ever held at Iowa Speedway in 2006,?? Wilson noted. “We are proud to continue the Pro Cup Series tradition at this state-of-the-art facility and have our drivers showcase their talents in front of the Iowa fans during a companion event weekend with the NASCAR Nationwide Series.??

The track's inaugural event was Sept. 15, 2006 and was won by Pro Cup Series driver Woody Howard, of Chesapeake, Va.

“We just celebrated our third anniversary. In that amount of time, we have grown our program tremendously,?? Iowa Speedway Vice President and General Manager Craig Armstrong said. “We are repositioning some of our four best events and we wanted to retain the best-of-the-best. We feel the Pro Cup Series is a sterling example of a very competitive, highly entertaining series. It's the best short-track racing in America. To bring it back on the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 weekend in 2010 is a huge plus for the fans, the teams and the drivers to showcase their talents. It is a win-win situation. We are happy it turned out the way it did.??

Last month it was announced the USARacing Pro Cup Series would return to Bristol Motor Speedway in 2010 on May 15 after a year's sabbatical from the high-banked, half-mile track. The entire Pro Cup Series 2010 schedule will be released at a later date.
