Alvaro Parente's weekend started in the worst possible way, after an electronic problem prevented him of doing any timed lap in the qualifying for the first Portimao GP2 race, something that puts him in the grid's last position.

The day started with rain, which forced all the drivers to use wet tires in their first contact with the Portuguese circuit. The driver from Oporto, always very fast in these conditions, was always among the fastest and, with the track drying up, he just dropped in the timesheets at the end of the session, with the twelfth fastest lap.

In the second practice, that allowed the drivers to use slicks, the twenty-four years old driver was the seventh fastest, which left him optimistic for the qualifying. However, the session that defined the first race grid didn't go well for the Portuguese driver: he just gave two very slow laps, because of an electronic problem that jammed his car's gearbox in second. With this problem, tomorrow he will start from last. "There isn't much to say about this qualifying! I had a technical problems in my car and I couldn't do any timed lap. It was really bad!", said a disappointed driver that would like to offer to the Portuguese fans a really good result in today's qualifying.

With this Friday's problems, all weekend is compromised but, with the tenacity that characterizes him, Alvaro Parente is motivated and assures that he will give his best to achieve a good result that allows the Portuguese fans to have something to cheer about. "Tomorrow's race will be very hard, because I'll start from last. Though, as usual, I'll give my best I'll fight with all my strength to see the chequered flag in a good position" ended the Portuguese driver supported by Delta, TMN, Aurora Group, Geotur/Star and Cision.
