Mitch Dorr Off-Race Report: TORC Crandon 2

Mitch Dorr Gets World Championship Ring
Finishes 5th in Season Championship.

Rockford, IL (September 15, 2009) - With only two rounds of racing
left in the 2009 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL Sportsman
Stock Truck Championship, Mitch Dorr knew he had to be nearly perfect
to take the title home to Rockford, Illinois. The #817 Fabricated
Steel Products Goodyear Tires Ford F-150 nearly accomplished the feat
until contact in the final round, had Mitch looking thinking about the
2010 season.

This year the small Wisconsin Northwoods town of Crandon was
celebrating forty years of off-road racing, and the race track saw
record crowds all weekend long.  The largest Stock Truck field of the
year as nineteen drivers signed up for the final weekend of TORC Stock
Truck racing.

New for the weekend, was a set of Raceline Bead Lock Wheel Covers
mounted on the #817 Ford. The clear poly covers are designed to
prevent dirt and mud from accumulating inside the wheel, and mount to
the bead locks with a set of dzus fasteners.

Round 9 ?World Championship Saturday
The land rush start had Mitch Dorr and his #817 Fabricated Steel
Products ATD Goodyear Tires Ford F-150 immediately move into podium
contention. After the mandatory caution lap at the halfway point of
the race, Mitch set his sights on the top spot on the box. Quickly,
the race became a two truck battle between Mitch and #864 Al Konitzer.
The two raced bumper to bumper, door to door for much of the second
half of the race. Then with two laps to go, Konitzer lost a tire,
ending the battle, as the red Goodyear Tire Ford F-150 held the lead
all the way to winning the 2009 Stock Truck World Championship. A
distant second was Scott Beauchamp, and Rod Wells in third, completed
the podium.

?Wow, what a race,? exclaimed Mitch Dorr. ?I knew it would be tough to
get around Al, but his truck couldn?t handle the punishment and we
came out on top. Now I can put this World Championship Ring next to
dad?s. There aren?t too many father and son racers can say they both
have a World Championship ring from Crandon?.  The Raceline Wheel
Covers worked perfect. They stayed on, I didn?t get any dirt build up
or feel any imbalance on any of the tires. From now on, I won?t race
without the Raceline Wheel Covers?.
We have few things to check on the truck, but we have plenty of time
to get this hot rod ready for the final push to the championship, the
Mole Lake Cup?

Round 10 ? The Mole Lake Casino Stock Truck Cup II
The Mole Lake Casino stepped up again as sponsor of the final round of
racing in the Stock Truck division. The Mole Lake Casino Stock Truck
Cup would not only decide the Stock Truck Championship, it would also
award the top finishers in the race additional prize money. This is
the second time this year, (Round One was also sponsored by the tribe,
and won by Mitch Dorr) the Mole Lake Casino showed its generosity and
appreciation to the Stock Truck competitors.

Early on in the race, it looked like Mitch could have a repeat
performance of Saturday?s race, but a flat tire, from racing contact,
slowed the pace of the #817 Fabricated Steel Products Goodyear Tires
Ford F-150. The red Ford F-150 went from second place and challenging
for the lead, to gradually falling back to finish the race in tenth
place.

For the season, Mitch Dorr finished on the podium four times,
including two wins, one second place and one third place finish. The
team officially finished fifth in the 2009 TORC Stock Truck
Championship. The two wins were the biggest races of the year, Round 1
- The inaugural Mole Lake Stock Truck Cup, and Round 9 - The Stock
Truck World Championship.

?This was a hard fought battle for the championship all year long,?
commented Mitch Dorr. ?I have to thank my family first and foremost,
for all the help and support, without them I could be competing at
this level. The product support from Fabricated Steel, Goodyear, King
Shocks, Auto Trans Design, Raceline Wheels, and Phil?s Inc., kept this
truck running up front all season was unbelievable. Thanks also to
Mole Lake for all the support they give this class. We proved our
rookie season wasn?t a fluke.?

Even though the TORC Sportsman season is over, Mitch Dorr will compete
October 10-11, at the NORRS Off-Road Event at the Waupaca County
Fairgrounds, in Weyauwega, Wisconsin.

Mitch Dorr thanks all his supporters including: Fabricated Steel
Products, Auto Trans Designs, Goodyear Tires, Raceline Allied Wheels,
King Shocks, Autometer, K & N Filters, MSD Ignition, Optima Batteries,
and Mastercraft Seats.
