AllPotential Blood and Marrow Donors to Receive Goody Bag and Thunder RoadTour

WATKINS GLEN, NY(SEPTEMBER 14. 2009)– With the passing of the eight year anniversary of September 11thlast week; Watkins Glen International, the Sullivan Trail Chapter of theAmerican Red Cross and the National Marrow Donor Program Greater New York StateDonor Center, have renewed their partnership to support the spirit of charitablegiving surrounding the anniversary of this national tragedy. The 2009 ‘Road tothe Rescue’ will take place on Tuesday, September 15 at Watkins GlenInternational and was organized in conjunction with the NASCAR Foundation’sfourth annual campaign at NASCAR tracks across the country.
The Road to TheRescue blood and marrow registry drive will take place at Watkins GlenInternational, from 11:30 am – 6:30 pm, at the track’s Media Center. Free food and a goody bagfeaturing a voucher for a Thunder Road Tour, Camping World Grand Prix at TheGlen or Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen event hat, miniature IndyCarSeries die-cast, and more will be provided to all potential donors. Thunder Road Tours retail for $25.00 and provide fans the opportunity to drivetheir own vehicle around the 3.4 mile road course at Watkins Glen Internationalfor three paced laps. A free voucher will be provided to all donors and can beredeemed on September 16th or at a later date.
Donors will alsohave the chance to enter and win a VIP experience at a NASCAR event during the2010 season.  The winner will receive 2 tickets to a NASCAR sanctionedevent, a VIP tour, and a high speed pace car ride with a NASCAR official. The drawing will include entries from all of the other host tracks and will bemade following the marrow drive at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on December1st, 2009.
The NASCAR Foundation continues to work hard on theirannual blood and marrow drive with Watkins Glen International and 27 othertracks throughout the country including WGI sister facilities, MichiganInternational Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Darlington Raceway, TalladegaSuperspeedway, Auto Club Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, RichmondInternational Raceway, Kansas Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, PhoenixInternational Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Not only will thetrack host a blood drive but they will be working hard to sign people up for theNational Marrow Donor Program. The largest effort of its kind within themotorsports industry, The NASCARFoundation Blood and MarrowDrive has collected enough pints of blood topotentially save
more than 17,000lives since its launch in 2006. On a national level, more than 1,500 memberswere added to the National Marrow Donor ProgramŽ Registry giving hope to the6,000 patients searching the Registry every day.
