DAV Donates Ford Explorers to the
VA Maryland Health Care System

WHAT:	A drive-off ceremony: The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Maryland donated four new Ford Explorer Sport Utility Vehicles to the VA Maryland Health Care System to support the DAV Volunteer Transportation Program.

	  Perry Point VA Medical Center, Perry Point, Md.

WHEN: 	September 16, 2009, at 10 a.m.

HIGHLIGHTS: 
	
ā€¢	The donation is worth more than $93,000, representing four of a total of 151 vehicles the organization is donating this year to VA Medical Centers across the nation.
ā€¢	The DAV and Department of Veterans Affairs enjoy a unique partnership, aimed at providing veterans with limited transportation resources with free transportation to and from health care clinic appointments.
ā€¢	To date, 60 DAV volunteers drive the 17-van fleet, transporting hundreds of veterans to various sites within the health care system on an as-needed basis.
