DAV Donates Ford Explorers to the
VA Maryland Health Care System

WHAT:	A drive-off ceremony: The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Maryland donated four new Ford Explorer Sport Utility Vehicles to the VA Maryland Health Care System to support the DAV Volunteer Transportation Program.

WHERE:	  Building 82H, Room 137 and adjacent Parking Lot
	  Perry Point VA Medical Center, Perry Point, Md.

WHEN: 	September 16, 2009, at 10 a.m.

HIGHLIGHTS: 
	
•	The donation is worth more than $93,000, representing four of a total of 151 vehicles the organization is donating this year to VA Medical Centers across the nation.
•	The DAV and Department of Veterans Affairs enjoy a unique partnership, aimed at providing veterans with limited transportation resources with free transportation to and from health care clinic appointments.
•	To date, 60 DAV volunteers drive the 17-van fleet, transporting hundreds of veterans to various sites within the health care system on an as-needed basis.
